OROLAUNUM

OROLAUNUM in the north part of Gallia, is placed by the Antonine Itin. on a road from Durocortorum (Reims) to Trier. It is placed halfway between Epoissum (Iptsch) and Andethanna, which D'Anville supposes to be Epternach, by which he means Echternach: others place Andethanna about Anwen. The name Arlon clearly represents Orolaunum, where Roman remains, as it is said, have been found. Arlon is in the duchy of Luxemburg.
