A Camp Anecdote.

--A correspondent of the New Orleans Crescent, writing from Camp Moore, La., gives the following good one:

I must tell you one of our camp stories, ‘"got up"’ by a young sentinel known as Ferguson. I was taking a walk late last night towards the outskirts of our camp. when I heard the usual sentry challenge, ‘"who goes there?"’ ‘"Officer of the day, with the countersign,"’ was the reply.

‘"Well,"’ said Ferguson, ‘"you had better leave here, the officer of the night will be along directly, and if he sees you about you'll catch hell!"’ Military men, particularly, will appreciate and admit that this is the best of the season.
