ed a good deal of insight into the methods of business management. In the winter of 1837, feeling the need of a better education, he attended the academy at Unity, N. H., of which the late Rev. A. A. Miner was then the principal; and during a part of the same year, to enable him to pay his expenses at the academy, he taught school at Cavendish, Vt. This finished his school education. He left the home of his boyhood, and moved to Boston March 19, 1838. He went to work immediately for Nathan Robbins, who was in business in Quincy Market, now commonly called Faneuil Hall Market, and continued with him until April 30, 1842, when he started for himself and formed a partnership with Francis Russell, under the style of Russell & Squire, at No. 25 Faneuil Hall Market, where the new firm carried on a provision business until 1847, when it was dissolved. Burying Ground. The Middle, or Central School House stood on the Common, west of the Meeting-House, and nearly or quite half way from the Meeting-House and Nathan Robbins's present property. The rear end of the school-house abutted on the brick-wall of the long range of tombs erected in 1810 and 1811, and the school-house was view of West Cambridge, in 1817, shows the First Parish meeting-house of that date.
