Among the candidates for the Convention, announced promptly upon the passage of the bill, is Col. W. W. Hancock, of Chesterfield. He represented his county in the House of Delegates for several years, and so entirely to the satisfaction of his constituents that it was only by his own determination to retire that his representative relation to them ceased. At the solicitation of many of them, he is now in the field for the Convention, and should he be elected, he will most assuredly be one of those who will firmly stand up for the rights and honor of Virginia.
