City Council. --A regular monthly meeting of the City Council was held yesterday afternoon. Messrs. Saunders, Haskins, Hill, Wynne, Burr, Scott, Crutchfield, and Griffin were present. Mr. Glazebrook also appeared, but obtained leave of absence. Mr. Eppes was detained at home by sickness. Superintendent of Streets.--Mr. Burr offered the following resolution, which was adopted: Resolved, That the powers and duties heretofore pertaining to the Superintendent of Streets shall be exercised and performed by the City Engineer until the further order of the Council. Sick Soldiers.--On motion of Mr. Hill, the following resolution was adopted: Resolved, That all prescriptions marked for that purpose, and signed by a physician, for medicine for soldiers located in any private families or at hospitals kept by associations of ladies or gentlemen, shall be referred to the Committee on Claims, who shall order their payment.
