λοχισθέντες: falling into an ambuscade, pass. of λοχίζειν, the act. of which is used in iii. 107. 18, where, however, the troops employed in the ambush are the dir. obj. of the action of the verb.

διεφθάρησαν ὡς ὀγδοήκοντα: the general subj. Ἀργεῖοι is limited in the course of the period. Cf. c. 10. 47 ff.; 59. 1 ff.
