Kirchwey, George W. 1855-

Educator; born in Detroit, Mich., July 3, 1855; graduated at Yale College in 1879; studied law in New Haven and Albany; was admitted to the bar in Albany in 1881; and practised there for ten years. In 1889-91 he was dean of the Albany Law School, and in 1891 became Professor of Law in Columbia University. He has edited a number of legal text-books; contributed frequently to legal periodicals; and was one of the [259] revisers of Johnson's universal Cyclopaedia in 1892-95.
