Palmetto cockades,

Ornaments made of blue silk ribbon, with a button in the centre bearing the image of a palmettotree. They were also called Secession cockades. Secession bonnets, made by a Northern milliner in Charleston, were worn by the ladies of that city on the streets immediately after the passage of the ordinance of secession.
