Walbach, John Baptiste de Barth, Baron de 1766-1857

Military officer; born in Munster, Germany, Oct. 3, 1766; was in the French military service; came to America in 1796; studied law with Alexander Ham ilton; and entered the United States army as lieutenant of cavalry in 1799. In June, 1813, he was made assistant adjutantgeneral, with the rank of major, and did good service on the northern frontier in the War of 1812-15. He died in Baltimore, Md., June 10, 1857. [110]
