Lieutenant-Colonel Washburn, of Woodstock, is one of the most prominent lawyers in the State. At the same time he is a military man, and a disciplinarian of the highest order. Major Worthen, of Bradford, is also a lawyer, and a graduate of the Norwich University. Adjutant Stevens, also, has formerly followed the profession of the law. The regiment numbers seven hundred and eighty men. Among them are several giants, taller by some inches than the President of the United States, and nearly all are accustomed to hard out-door work. One of the officers states that he selected ten of his tallest, and had them lie down on the ground for measurement, when it was found that the ten formed a line sixty-seven feet and ten inches in length.N.
