1 وَسَمَ الثَّوْبَ ذ [He marked, or put a mark on, the garment, &c.]; said of a trader, or dealer. (JK in art. رقم.) ― -b2- وَسَمَهُ بِالهِجَآءِ [He branded him, or stigmatized him, with satire]. (TA.) See a hemistich cited voce شَكِىٌّ. ― -b3- وَسَمَهُ He marked it [in any manner]. (Msb.) ― -b4- وَسَمَهُ بِالقَوْلِ (tropical:) He stigmatized him, or set a mark upon him whereby he should be known, by something said. (TA in art. علظ.) ― -b5- وَسَمْتُ الكِتَابَ [I put a superscription, or title, to the book, or writing.] (TA in art. عنو.) ― -b6- وَسُمَ, inf. n. وَسَامَةٌ (S, Msb, K) and وَسَامٌ, (S, K,) He (a man, S) was beautiful in face: (S, Msb:) or bore the impress, or stamp, of beauty. (K.)
