Death of a Professor.

--Dr. Josiah Willard Gibbs, Professor of Sacred Literature in the Theological Department of Yale College, and a man of great celebrity in the world of science, died in New Haven on the 25th inst., aged 71 years. He held a high rank among American scholars, not only for learning and research in his special department, but for his thorough acquaintance with general philology.
