Removal.
--The Custom-House of the
Confederate States has been removed from the Post-Office building, on Bank street, over
Deane &
Hobson's store, on the Basin bank.
The location will do very well for the present; but no doubt when things get to their natural level, as they will do we trust ere long, it will be found more convenient to the shipping interest to have the
Custom-House in close proximity to the department of trade with which it has chiefly to deal.
Rocketts is the best location for a Custom-House — in fact the only suitable place for it. There is, however, time enough to determine its final location.
For the present, we must address ourselves to the task of securing our menaced independence.
