Mayor's Court, yesterday.

--John Hamilton, a white boy some fourteen years of age, was brought up on a charge of vagrancy. He claimed to be in the service of Mr. R. H. Stevens, of Norfolk, and was committed to jail to await the further order of the Court, when his employer shall have been consulted.--William Cooper, a free negro, notorious for his predatory propensities, was arraigned on the charge of having in his possession a gold watch valued at $100, without being able to prove his property therein. The complain and could not speak English, and first one and then a second interpreter was sworn to assist him. A vast mass of testimony was adduced, of one sort and another, but the guilt of the accused became less and less clear, until finally the Court discharged him.--The case of James Burnes, for assaulting Catharine Lowry, was continued.--Catharine Lowry, charged with being drunk and disorderly in the streets, was discharged.--Timothy McMahon was sent to jail on the same charge.--Antoni Beville, arrested on the same charge, was discharged upon condition that he should at once return to Fredericksburg.--Peter, a slave of William Ragland, charged with assault and battery upon Josephine King, a free negress, was ordered twenty lashes.
