Fall trade.

--We doubt whether our merchants have ever experienced such a thrifty trade as they have this fall, the blockade to the contrary not withstanding. A ready market has been found for everything, and we need not say that goods have been ‘"marked up"’ to a figure which makes prudent heads of families start back aghast. We need not say that our ladies still discuss the latest fashions and spend their money free, for dress is their crowing glory. It is an ‘"ill wind that turns none to good,"’ and while the war makes many poor and desolate, some will come out of it right side up and with their pockets full.
