--The careless discharge of firearms by troops near residences has often jeopardized human life of late, and complaints of suburban residents have been frequent and well-founded. Balls frequently fall within uncomfortable proximity to persons passing to and fro, and not later than yesterday a rifle shot came within an ace of giving our ‘"special" ’ his unsought and unasked for quietus. As it is contrary to military discipline. and decidedly ‘"unhealthy"’ withal to pedestrians within range of such unauthorized shooting, commandere and others will confer a lasting favor to have the ‘"loads"’ discharged at the regular hour, in proper places, or not at all.
