The wounded at the Hospitals.

--An appeal has been made, through our advertising columns, for contributions and supplies for the wounded soldiers in our hospitals. These supplies can be rent to the depot of the Young Men's Christian Association or to the agent appointed by the Surgeon General for this purpose. There need be no conflict in the performance of this work of benevolence. We are informed that the proper arrangements have been made by the officers in charge of these departments, by which they will, as far as possible, co-operate in the distribution of supplies where they are most needed. Our friends from the country would do well to consult their physicians in regard to the articles most needed in the hospitals for the wounded, and forward them by every opportunity.

In a letter before us, from a lady, we find the following appropriate tribute to our gallant defenders:

‘ "I am truly glad to see that our poor gallant wounded soldiers are receiving attentions so kind, cheerful and angelic from our ladies, and the citizens generally. I wish I was there to assist. It seems to me that I would do anything in my power for them. They have saved our city thus far, by the most noble, daring and unflinching courage I almost ever heard of, and everything that can be done by every citizen to alleviate their sufferings should be most gratefully and enthusiastically a tended to. I believe religiously, that Richmond will not be taken — it cannot possibly — if the spirit of resistance shown on Saturday and Sunday still continues to animate our army."

’ Let every citizen, now enjoying a quiet retreat in the country, send on contributions and supplies for the relief of those who have so nobly defended their homes.
