Lieut. Col. Manly

of this city, was sent out as representative of the commander, to meet the flag of truce, the other day. On the Federal officer coming on board, he, with all the ceremony imaginable, took out his card and handed it to the Colonel. Col. Manly in reply put his hand first into one pocket and then another, and finally was obliged to confess that he had no card. ‘"In fact,"’ said he, ‘"we don't use them in our service; and I doubt much if I have a place of paper large enough to write my name upon. So you must excuse me if I introduce myself by word of mouth."’ The officer requested to be taken to the commandant of the post. The Colonel replied that this could only be done on his being blindfolded and placed in the hold.--The officer, not liking this, went back and reported to Captain Eagle for further instructions, finally returned, and banding his message to Col. M. to bring in.-- Houston, Telegraph.
