Deserted to the enemy's fleet.

--On Saturday night one of the Commissary row boats, on Sullivan's Island, was carried off by five of the regular infantry, encamped outside Fort Moultrie, and who, it is supposed, took this opportunity to join the enemy's fleet. The escape of the deserters was not noticed until roll call yesterday morning. The Sergeant who had control of the boat has been placed under arrest, as she was not moored at the place allotted to such boats. The five who a short time since deserted from the regular artillery were raw recruits, from New Orleans and Memphis. These may also be recruits. The regulars are the best provided and the best disciplined corps in the Confederate States, and are composed of splendid fighting material. We have the greatest confidence in their esprit de corps and condition.--As artillerists of infantry, the regulars are going to make their mark--Ch. Mercury.
