Desperation.

--A man named Wm. Robinson was arrested in Augusta, Ga., for some trifling offence, on the 16thinst. He at once drew a bowie-knife and resisted the officer, at the same time retreating towards the river; but on reaching the water he pulled off his coat, plunged in, swam half-way across, and was drowned.
