A touching incident.

--The following, communicated to the New Orleans Delta, is an illustration of the spirit with which our troops go out to battle:

‘ The last of Hampton's Legion left this morning; the first detachment went off last Wednesday. they marched in early in the morning, and halted in the shade back of Mrs. Hampton's, to await the hour for the cars to leave. The scene, before the tooops resumed their march to the depot, was very imposing The Lieutenant Colonel had them drawn up in double line, and said, ‘"Soldiers, it is proper at all times to acknowledge our dependence upon God, but more especially at this time; and for this purpose the Rev. Mr. Barnwell has been requested to lead us in prayer."’ It was an affecting scene, when they uncovered and bowed their heads reverentially, while the petition was presented in their behalf, and the tear was brushed from many an eye.--The last detachment left with like exercise:

Can a brave people, engaged in a righteous cause, and so fervently acknowledging God as their defender, ever be conquered?
