Escaped.

--Thomas Handy, alias Nutts, a free negro convict from the Penitentiary, who was at work on the fortifications below this city, took sudden leave of his comrades Saturday night, and had not up to late yesterday evening been heard from. Handy was received into the institution in March last for five years, for grand larceny. He was formerly in the oyster trade. When caught there will be ‘"autts to crack,"’ and the article will be ‘"handy."’
