spinter (spinther ), ēris, n. prob. from σφιγκτήρ,
I.a kind of bracelet which kept its place on the arm by its own elasticity: “spinter, genus armillae quod mulieres antiquae gerere solebant bracchio summo sinistro,” Fest. p. 333 Müll.: “jubeas spinter novom reconcinnarier,” Plaut. Men. 3, 3, 4 sq.; 4, 3, 8 sq.; 5, 2, 56; cf. Prisc. p. 646 P.
