Liburnus

A chain of mountains near Apulia, crossed by Hannibal in his march from Samnium and the Peligni into Apulia. It is stated that, before he arrived in the latter province, he crossed this chain; which probably answers to the branch of the Apennines bordering on the valley of the Tifernus to the north, and known by the name of Monte della Serra (Polyb. iii. 101).
