LUDI VICTO´RIAE SUJLLA´NAE

LUDI VICTO´RIAE SUJLLA´NAE were established by Sulla in 82 B.C. The original day was the Kalends of November, the date of the victory at the Colline Gate; but afterwards the games lasted from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1 inclusive. They were called Ludi Victoriae Sullanae by Velleius (2.27) and the Fasti Sabini (C. I. L. i. p. 302), to distinguish them from the Ludi Victoriae Caesaris. They do not appear in the Calendar of Philocalus (354 A.D.).
