LACIBU´RGIUM

LACIBU´RGIUM (Λακιβούργιον), a German town on the south coast of the Baltic, between the rivers Chalusus, and Suevus or Suebus. It is mentioned only by Ptolemy (2.11.27), and it is certain that its site must be looked for to the west of Warnemünde, but the precise spot cannot be ascertained, whence some have identified it with Wismar, others with Ratzeburg, and others again with Lauenburg.
