CITHARISTES

CITHARISTES a promontory in the south of Gallia, placed by Ptolemy (2.10) between Tauroentum (Taurenti) and Olbia (Eoubo); and the most southern point on this part of the coast. The promontory then is Cap Cicier near Toulon. Walckenaer makes it Cap Cepet at the entrance of the great road of Toulon. Mela (2.5) mentions Citharistes, and apparently intends to make it a town or port. It must therefore be Citharista.
