Virginia Life Guard.

--This company having perfected its organization for thorough and effective service in the field, paraded on Saturday and tendered its services to Gov. Letcher, which were accepted. It therefore forms a component part of the forces now concentrating here for the defence of the State. The Life Guard is composed of admirable material, is clothed in a good and substantial way, and is armed with that choice modern implement of destruction, the Enfield rifle. The effective force is about 75 men. John Stuart Walker is Captain; Chas. P. Rady, 1st Lieutenant; which is a guarantee that the Guard will know how to perform its duty when called on to act. Their appearance on Saturday was very creditable to themselves — they looked finely and their movements were executed better than many companies who have been longer in service.
