RUZASUS (Azeffoun) Algeria.

Pliny the Elder (5.20) says that the town was a colony of Augustus; inscriptions prove that the Colonia Julia Augusta was founded by veterans of the Seventh Legion, just as were the towns of Saldae (Bedjaia) and Tubusuctu (Tiklat) in the valley of the Soumam. This undoubtedly occurred at the time when Octavius controlled Mauretania before that region was once again put in the hands of Juba II.

The small, picturesque village of Azeffoun is located on the plateau that dominates the site of Port-Gueydon. In it one can still see some remains of buildings, in particular a bath building. Concerning the identification of the site, see also under the entry Rusucurru.
