BALNEUM MERCURII

mentioned in the Einsiedeln Itinerary (9), and possibly referred to in the templum Mercurii of the Mirabilia (I), as both balneum and templum are used in mediaeval documents for structures of various kinds. If there was a balneum Mercurii, it may have been near the AQUA MERCURII (q.v.) on the west slope of the Caelian (DAP 2. ix. 418).
