VIA CAMPANA
a road on the right bank of the Tiber, which led to the
Campus Salinarum romanarum (see
VIA OSTIENSIS, with which it was,
in imperial times, united for purposes of administration). It was probably
of very early origin (see
VIA SALARIA,
VICUS IUGARIUS). The first part
of its course was identical with that of the
VIA PORTUENSIS (q.v.). See
T. v. 1-58.
