A.keep house, stay at home, Ael.NA11.32: metaph., “κακὸν ὑ. ἐν τῇ ψυχῇ” lurks, lies hidden, Luc.Abd.6; “ἢν μὴ ὑποικουρέωσι φλεγμοναί” Aret. CA2.3; esp. in part., “ἀμορφία ὑποικουροῦσα” Luc.Gall.24; “μῖσος τὸ ὑποικουροῦν” J.AJ17.5.5, cf. D.S.31.17.
II. trans., engage in or plot underhand, “ἃ . . -εῖτε τοῖσιν ἀνδράσιν” Ar.Th.1168, cf. Plu.Pomp.42:—Pass., ὑποικουρουμένη ὀργή anger secretly cherished, Plb.4.49.4, cf. 3.11.3: τὰ -ημένα the plot, intrigue, Ph.2.202.
2. c. acc. pers., work secretly upon, “τὴν στρατιάν” Plu.Luc.34; “χρήμασι πολλοὺς ἄρχοντας” Id.Pomp.58; νόσος ὑ. αὐτούς crept in among them, Id.Cam.28.
