BUPHA´GIUM

BUPHA´GIUM (Δουφάγιον), a town of Arcadia, in the district Cynuria, situated near the sources of the river Buphagus (Βουφάγος), a tributary of the Alpheius, which formed the boundary between the territories of Heraea and Megalopolis. It is placed [p. 1.457]by Leake at Papadha, and by Boblaye, near Zula-Sarakini. (Paus. 8.26. 8, 27.17, 5.7.1; Leake, Morea, vol. ii. pp. 67, 92, Peloponnesiaca, p. 233; Boblaye, Recherches, p. 161.)
