EMPERE´SIUM

EMPERE´SIUM (Ἐμπερέσιον), a promontory mentioned by Dicaearchus between Aulis and Euripus. Leake supposes Emperesium to have been the name of the peninsula of Euboea immediately south of Chalcis and the Straits. (Dicaearch. Stat. Graec. 90; Leake, Northern Greece, vol. ii. p. 264, seq.)
