SOLIS PORTUS

SOLIS PORTUS (Ἡλίου λιμήν, Ptol. 7.4.6), a harbour near the SE. corner of Taprobane (Ceylon). It has been conjectured by Forbiger that it is the present Vendelusbai,--a name we do not discover on the best maps. Its position, south of the Malea mountains (Adam's Peak), is certain.
