Destruction of salt works.

--The salt works at West Bay have been totally destroyed by the Yankees, 100 negroes taken off, and the Yankees were at one time within fifty seven miles of Merianna. It was stated that the enemy, by entering East Bay, cut off Capt. Robertson's company by means of their gunboats, and thus at the west end of St. Andrews they had their own way. After shelling awhile, and producing a general scatteration on shore, the Yankees landed, took possession of the negroes mentioned, smashed kettles, burned wagons, killed mules, and caused a general destruction. There seemed to be a general run and abandonment of everything on shore.
