The assembly decides to answer in accordance with the advice of Pericles.

ἄριστα: adj., not adv. Cf. c. 124. 11. Often with art. Cf. c. 43. 11; iv.74.10.— ἐκέλευε: sc. ψηφίσασθαι.

τῇ ἐκείνου γνώμῃ : cf. c. 90. 14; 93. 16.

ὡς ἔφρασε: belongs only to καθ᾽ ἕκαστα, since φράζειν always implies ‘to set forth details.’ On the other hand, τὸ ξύμπαν finds its exposition in οὐδὲν κελευόμενοι ποιήσειν, “that they would do nothing upon dictation.”

διαλύεσθαι: only here with περί and gen. Usually with acc. Cf. c. 140. 17; v.80.2.— ἐπὶ ἴσῃ καὶ ὁμοίᾳ: see on c. 27. 3.
