Ciquard, Francois 1760-

Missionary; born in Clermont, France, about 1760; entered the Sulpitian order; came to the United States in 1792, and settled in Old Town, Me., where he labored among the Penobscot and Passamaquoddy Indians, for whom he prepared a code of laws, but had great difficulty in inducing them to adopt habits of civilized life. He died in Canada.
