Startling News from Illinois.

--A military company in Chicago recently passed the following resolution:

‘ ‘"Whereas, Since General Beauregard has shown so much of 'the milk of human kindness' as to request the departure of the women and children from Washington before Saturday:"’ Therefore be it

‘"Resolved, That said Beauregard be hung, when caught, with as little torture as possible."’

We marvel (says the New York Day Book,) that they propose to wait to catch him before hanging him — it is a moderation not usual with Republicans in these days.
