Free Negroes, from all sections of the Confederacy, have flocked here since the commencement of the war, in search of easy employment. To get rid of them the Mayor has put his officers at work, and in a very short time will have them all under his control. The males, it is intimated, are to be turned over to the Confederate authorities, to be employed in the batteries and other public works, and the females will be sent back to the places from whence they came or sold into slavery.
