Unprovoked assault.

--John J. Carr was before the Mayor yesterday, charged with beating R. N. Roberts. Roberts testified that he was going up the street from Grace to Broad, when he was met by Carr and assaulted without cause. The Mayor sent him on to the Hustings Court for examination, and required security in the sum of five hundred dollars for his appearance.
