A fatal admission.

The N. Y. Times openly declares that the large fleet sent to Charleston was not intended to attack the Carolinians, but simply to proovke them to fire upon Fort Sumter, for the purpose of thereby exciting the public mind in the Northern States. The Times rejoices in the success of the device, which, in its low cunning and inhumanity, is altogether worthy of the ‘"powers that be"’ at Washington.
