[325] πρὸς καιρόν = καιρίως, as Soph. Phil. 1279, Soph. Trach. 59.

ὡς οὖν κ.τ.λ.: “(I do not speak), then, in order that neitherμηδέ) may I share your mishap (of speaking amiss).” If he speaks not, neither will he speak wrongly. Cp. Thuc. 2.63εἰκὸς ... μὴ φεύγειν τοὺς πόνους, μηδὲ τὰς τιμὰς διώκειν.” I now prefer this view to taking μηδ᾽ ἐγώ as irregular for μὴ καὶ ἐγώ (“lest I too ... ”), —revolving μηδέ into μή not, δέ on the other hand; though the place of ἐγώ suggests this. Kviecpala's μὴ λέγων is ingenious and attractive; it may, indeed, be right; but seems hardly necessary.
