Washington, Sept. 2
----The special correspondent of the New York Post says that the picket guards of the concerning a man are getting daily closer and closer. There are many exciting rumors in circulation, and some state that the Confederates had crossed the Potomac in large numbers at Aquia Creek.

The War Department has received nothing official in relation to the report of General Rosencrane's disaster.

Secretary Chase has issued a patriot appeal in behalf of the Federal loan.
