Getting a substitute.

--The New York Day Book has at last heard of one Wide-Awake who came near going to the war; but his wife told him he must get a substitute.--‘"But what will you do if I don't?"’ inquired he. ‘"Why, get a substitute for you,"’ was the fair one's reply. He had a reasonable excuse for not going with his regiment.
