Vivarium
(
ζωγρεῖον). A general term for any place in which beasts,
fowls, fish, or any kind of animals were kept alive, either for the purposes of gain or
pleasure; a park for game, a rabbit-warren, fish-pond, decoy, preserve for oysters, etc.
