CU´RGIA
CU´RGIA (
Κούργια,
Ptol. 2.4.15) or CURIGA (
Itin. Ant. p. 432; Geogr. Ray. 4.44:
La Calera), a city of the Celtici, in Hispania Baetica, near the Mons Marianus (
Sierra Morena), on the high road from the mouth of the Anas to Emerita Augusta.
It appears to be the same place as the TURIGA, previously Ucultuniacum, of Pliny (
3.3; compare Caro,
Ant. 3.70; Ukert, vol. ii. pt. 1, p. 882).
