NOVANUS

NOVANUS a small river of the Vestini, mentioned only by Pliny (2.103. s. 106), who places it in the territory of Pitinum, and notices it for the peculiarity that it was dry in winter and full of water in summer. This circumstance (evidently arising from its being fed by the snows of the highest Apennines) seems to identify it with the stream flowing from a source called the Laghetto di Vetojo. (Romanelli, vol. iii. p. 281.)
