RARASSA

RARASSA (Ῥαράσσα or Ἠράρασα, Ptol. 7.1.50), a place which Ptolemy calls the metropolis of the Caspeiraei in India intra Gangem. Its exact situation cannot be determined; but there can be no doubt that it was in Western India, not far from the Vindya Ms. Lassen places it a little S. of Ajmir.
