A Serviceable Weapon.
--
Messrs. Fishback &
Moyers, of
Gordonsville, have presented us with a fine sword of their own manufacture.
Saladin's sword was famous for its keen edge, and that of Richard the
Lion-Hearted for its size.
The one in question combines the excellences of the two, being strong enough for the soldier who can fell the stoutest man with his fist, as Richard could, and sharp enough for the cavalier who desires to cleave his victims in twain, or take off their heads at a single blow, as Saladin could.
Our sword, which the curious may see in the window of the
Dispatch office, is strong, of good length, finely tempered, ground to a keen edge, has a stout hill, and is altogether a dangerous instrument.
The manufacturer's price is $7 each for such swords.
